BULLETIN TO ALL MEMBERS WHO MAY SEND OR TAKE THEIR EMPLOYEES OUT OF STATE

Hope all is well!

I just wanted to be sure to inform you of the Nevada laws and how it applies to California employers and their employees who only have a California Workers' Comp policy.

It is highly recommended for an employer who is taking employees to Nevada to obtain a Nevada Workers' Comp policy. They will need to check with their current insurance agent or they are welcome to contact me at 888-436-2523.

I am including 2 links to help explain:
Important Information
State Fund Out of State Exposure Notice

1. Important Information for All Employers - this is a summary of information I have gathered.

2. State Fund has a form that each employer who is taking employees out of state need to be alerted to. The situation is not limited to State Fund but other carriers as well who place business in California.

3. List of Administrative Offices in various states that an employer can call to ask any questions.

This is very important for anyone attending the WCISA conference in Reno, Nevada. Even though a Workers' Comp carrier, such as State Fund, will honor a claim if it happened in Nevada, the state of Nevada will give the employee the option to be under their benefit program and the employer can get a fine for not having a policy and may be personally liable for any accidents that can occur.

Reminder: If an employer picks up an employee to drive them to the event the employee is under the employer's liability even if it is a volunteer situation.

Please pass this information on and feel free to call me should you have any questions.
